Milford Sound

Overview

Milford Sound is a stunning natural place in Fiordland National Park, New Zealand. Though called a “sound,” it is actually a fjord, shaped long ago by glaciers. It is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its beauty and importance. Huge cliffs rise 1,200 meters straight from the deep, dark water. Waterfalls fall from high valleys, and green rainforests grow on steep rock walls. When it rains, hundreds of small waterfalls appear, making the view even more magical. You can explore Milford Sound by boat, kayak, or walking tracks. It's also home to sea animals like seals, dolphins, and penguins. Whether in sunshine or rain, the scenery is always dramatic and peaceful. Milford Sound is one of the most special and beautiful places in New Zealand and a must-see for all visitors.
