Arrive in Xi'an, one of China's oldest cities and the eastern terminus of the ancient Silk Road. Transfer to your hotel and refresh before an afternoon visit to the ancient City Wall, one of the largest and best-preserved city fortifications in China. Take an optional bike ride along the top of this massive structure. In the evening, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner featuring Xi'an's famous dumplings, followed by a Tang Dynasty cultural performance showcasing music and dance from China's golden age.
Embark on a full-day exploration of Xi'an's archaeological treasures, starting with the world-famous Terracotta Warriors. Marvel at this vast underground army of life-sized clay soldiers, horses, and chariots created to guard Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. After lunch featuring local specialties, visit the Shaanxi History Museum to gain deeper insights into the region's rich history as a cultural and economic center. End your day at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a sacred Buddhist site dating back to the Tang Dynasty that once housed sutras brought from India.

After breakfast, transfer to Xi'an Airport for your flight to Dunhuang, a crucial oasis outpost on the ancient Silk Road. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and rest briefly before visiting the stunning Crescent Moon Lake, a natural spring in the shape of a half-moon surrounded by massive sand dunes. Experience a sunset camel ride across the Mingsha Sand Dunes (Singing Sand Mountains), where the sand creates a musical sound when conditions are right. Enjoy dinner featuring local Gansu Province specialties.
Dedicate a full day to exploring the magnificent Mogao Caves (also known as the Thousand Buddha Grottoes), one of the world's most important sites of Buddhist art. After breakfast, transfer to Dunhuang Railway Station to board the high-speed train to Turpan (approximately 4 hours). This journey takes you through dramatic desert landscapes and offers glimpses of the ancient Silk Road route. Upon arrival in Turpan, one of the lowest and hottest places in China, check into your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Jiaohe Ancient City Ruins, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world, dating back over 2,000 years and abandoned in the 14th century. End your day with a visit to a local Uyghur family to experience their traditional hospitality and cuisine.
Spend a full day exploring Turpan's unique attractions. Begin with the ingenious Karez Underground Irrigation System, an ancient engineering marvel that brings glacial meltwater from distant mountains to this desert region through underground channels. Continue to the striking Flaming Mountains, vividly red sandstone hills that can reach extremely high temperatures in summer. Take a full-day excursion to Heavenly Lake (Tianchi), a stunning alpine lake at 1,980 meters above sea level, surrounded by snow-capped Tian Shan mountains. Enjoy a boat cruise on the crystal-clear waters and take in the breathtaking scenery that has inspired poets and artists for centuries. Visit a Kazakh nomadic family and experience their traditional lifestyle, with the opportunity to taste kumis (fermented mare's milk) and other local specialties. Return to Urumqi in the late afternoon.
Spend the morning visiting the Southern Pastures, beautiful grasslands in the foothills of the Tian Shan mountains where Kazakh and Uyghur herders graze their livestock in summer. After breakfast, enjoy some free time for last-minute shopping or relaxation before your transfer to Urumqi International Airport for your departure flight.
