Best Time to Visit Mauritius

  • Peak Season

Winter (May-October) brings cooler, drier conditions ideal for exploring with temperatures averaging 20-26°C (68-79°F), clear visibility for water activities, and higher rates during European summer holidays.

  • Mid Season

Transitional months (April and November) offer excellent value with pleasant temperatures, good weather conditions, and reduced visitor numbers before or after peak seasons.

  • Off Season

Summer (November-April) brings warmer temperatures (25-35°C/77-95°F) with increased humidity and occasional tropical rain showers, but rewards visitors with significantly reduced rates and less crowded beaches.

  • Language Tips

English and French are widely spoken in tourism areas, while Mauritian Creole serves as the everyday language; even simple French phrases are appreciated by locals and enhance cultural connections during your stay.

Climate of Mauritius

Mauritius enjoys a tropical maritime climate with two seasons. Summer (November-April) brings warmer temperatures ranging from 25-35°C (77-95°F) with higher humidity and occasional tropical rainfall, primarily in the form of brief afternoon showers. Winter (May-October) offers more moderate temperatures between 20-26°C (68-79°F) with lower humidity and drier conditions. The central plateau area averages 5°C cooler than coastal regions year-round. While the island can experience cyclones between January and March, most pass without significant impact, and modern early warning systems provide ample notice for safety measures.
