Borneo Jungle Expedition

Depart from Kochi International Airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu (with connections). Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, transfer to your adventure lodge. After refreshment, enjoy an afternoon visit to Mari Mari Cultural Village to learn about Borneo's indigenous cultures and survival skills. Evening welcome dinner and trip briefing with your adventure guide to discuss the coming days' activities and review necessary gear.

 After breakfast, transfer to Jesselton Jetty for a speedboat ride to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. Spend the day island-hopping between Sapi, Manukan, and Mamutik islands with opportunities for snorkeling among coral reefs, jungle trekking on forest trails, and zip-lining between islands (optional). Enjoy a beach barbecue lunch. Return to Kota Kinabalu by late afternoon and prepare for tomorrow's mountain adventure. Overnight at your adventure lodge.

Early morning departure for Mount Kinabalu National Park (approximately 2 hours). Begin your climb of Southeast Asia's highest peak (4,095m) from Timpohon Gate (1,866m). This challenging but non-technical climb ascends through distinct ecological zones from lowland rainforest to cloud forest and alpine vegetation. Trek approximately 6km to Laban Rata Resthouse (3,272m) where you'll spend the night. Enjoy dinner while watching sunset over the Crocker Range. Early night in preparation for summit day

 Very early wake-up call (around 2:00 AM) to begin your summit attempt. Climb by headlamp through the rocky upper slopes to reach Low's Peak in time for a spectacular sunrise view across Borneo (weather permitting). After celebrating your achievement, descend to Laban Rata for breakfast, then continue down to park headquarters. Transfer to Poring Hot Springs for a well-deserved soak in the therapeutic mineral baths. Afternoon includes a canopy walkway experience through the rainforest treetops. Drive to Sepilok for overnight stay at a jungle lodge.

 Morning visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to observe the morning feeding session and see these endangered great apes in a natural setting. Continue to the adjacent Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about the world's smallest bear species. After lunch, enjoy an adventure trek through the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, an untouched dipterocarp forest with massive trees and rich biodiversity. Evening night walk with a naturalist guide to spot nocturnal creatures like flying squirrels, slow lorises, and various insects. Overnight at your jungle lodge.

After breakfast, transfer to the Kinabatangan River, Borneo's longest river and wildlife hotspot. Check into your riverside lodge and enjoy lunch. Afternoon wildlife cruise along the river and its tributaries searching for proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, hornbills, and wild orangutans. As darkness falls, continue with a night cruise using spotlights to find nocturnal wildlife including crocodiles. Dinner and overnight at your riverside lodge with the sounds of the jungle as your soundtrack.

Wake to the sounds of the dawn chorus. Early morning cruise to Ox-bow Lake to spot wildlife at their most active time. Return for breakfast before embarking on a challenging jungle trek through the floodplain forest with your expert guide, learning about medicinal plants, forest ecology, and wildlife tracking. After lunch, visit a local indigenous community to learn traditional survival skills including blow-pipe hunting, fire-making, and jungle foraging. Final evening river cruise at sunset followed by farewell dinner and overnight at your riverside lodge.

After a final breakfast in the jungle, transfer to Sandakan Airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu connecting to your international flight back to Kochi, taking with you unforgettable memories of wild Borneo adventures.
